intro to jewelry and metalsmithing

March 13th, 6-10pm


Intro to Jewelry & Metalsmithing will help you get to know the tools at ADX and begin to build the skills necessary to make everything from cool jewelry to a set of silverware from nonferrous metal! You’ll learn how to layout patterns on metal, saw, texture, form, and solder.

Stained glass panel series

march 17th, 1-6pm & March 18th, 1-6pm


Learn basic stained glass techniques and walk away with a small glass art piece, ready to hang, in this two-session series. This class will cover all the basic steps needed to make a small stained glass hanging using a combination of copper foil and leaded glass techniques.

wooden books and binding

march 19th, 6-9pm


Interested in bookbinding, but want to do it outside of the box? This wooden books class is for you! In this 3 hour class, you will choose your selection of wood for pages and covers and turn it into a small book that can be used for a variety of things! This class opens doors to people who want to work across mediums, perfect for bookbinders and woodworkers who want to break away from the traditional projects.

hope chests series (4-part Series)

starts March 20th, 6-9pm


Build and customize your own full-size hope chest in this 4 session series! This class is great for beginners and intermediate students who want to build on their woodworking skills while making a beautiful keepsake that can be used for many years to come.

**Non-Member price includes 1 month of Wood Shop Membership ($175 value!) so you can customize this project to fit your desires or work on any other wood projects you wish!

Community Happenings

adx community Potluck

march 19th, 6-9pm


Come by with a dish to share, enjoy a beer on the house (courtesy of Burnside Brewing and whoever else we may have on tap) and meet your fellow members.

Prospective members are invited to come for the 6pm tour and stay for the potluck – it’s a great way to meet the community and enjoy some good nosh in the process. (And New Members who sign up after the tour/potluck get 10% off their first month of membership.)

We’ll also give important shop updates to the group, and have time for members to highlight their projects and introduce themselves or call for a hand. See you there!

Our friends Uncorked Studios, Autodesk and the Portland Incubator Experiment (PIE) have officially announced the launch of their new advanced manufacturing and prototyping incubator which will be housed in Autodesk’s new Central Eastside location. new maker path: Jewelry Stone Setting

6-months of membership + intro to jewelry + soldering basics + cabochon ring series


Humans have been making jewelry for thousands of years. Now, it’s your turn! Embark on our Stone Setting Path and you’ll learn all the skills necessary to make beautiful, stone set rings and more.

On this path, you’ll start out learning the fundamentals of jewelry making with our intro course. Then, you’ll learn the basics of soldering small metals. Finally, you’ll spend two days crafting your own Cabochon stone ring utilizing all the skills you’ve learned and practiced within your six-month tenure.
