ADX is proud to announce another successful company launching through our Makerspace.
In early 2016, Kerry Cotter took an Intro to Sewing class at ADX with the goal of learning a new skill and exploring the world of textiles. Shortly thereafter, Kerry was struck with the idea of creating a breathable, durable, waterproof, and most importantly, comfortable blanket.
Six-months later, Kerry conducted a soft launch of two blankets which he coined #adventureblankets. Over the course of the year and into 2017, Kerry’s newly found company, Belmont Blankets, grew tremendously. A cycle of growth that culminated in a hugely successful stint at Outdoor Retailer (where he landed a deal with a large apparel company, yet to be publicly named).
Now, almost exactly 12 months from buying his own industrial sewing machine at the suggestion of Ellie Lum of Klum House and moving into his own office and production center at Portland Apparel Lab, Belmont Blanket is ready to graduate from the ‘bootleg’ phase and formalize the design, production and marketing of #advenureblankets.
Come join us and Belmont Blanket as we celebrate their official company launch party Thursday, September 14 @ ADX Annex.
Attendees to the BootLeg Graduation are promised to:
