Most makers can identify with Thomas Edison’s declaration that “genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” Plus, there’s always something new to learn, and it all takes practice! Add the basics of wiring a lamp to your repertoire by building your very own Edison Bulb Lamp in this workshop facilitated by local maker Josh Mabry.
A selection of basic hand tools, including wire cutters, wire strippers, and screwdrivers.
All materials will be provided, including a hardwood base, lamp hardware and an Edison light bulb.
Josh Mabry is a designer and maker of lighting and accessories for home and office. He’s a Portland native who began exploring classes at ADX in 2014 and quickly found his niche in woodworking. He began sculpting different forms in wood and found himself looking for ways to transform this newfound artform into something functional. What began as a hobby and creative outlet quickly turned into an obsession with lighting and home design. He loves sharing his passion for making with others and is especially excited to build lamps with folks at ADX.
