Learn to safely setup and operate the equipment necessary to melt, shape, and anneal solid borosilicate glass on a small scale. At the end of this class, the student should have a good basic knowledge of necessary tools, proper setup, and fundamental manipulation techniques to make small glass objects. The instructor will demonstrate techniques and then walk students through their initial attempts at making glass pendants/beads. The pieces, both the instructor demo and the student attempts, will anneal overnight and be available for pickup the following day!
Students will learn to setup and light the torch, gather and shape molten glass in the flame, add a simple color design, and form a glass bail to complete a solid glass pendant/bead.
Clear and color glass rods, graphite pads, paddles, marvers, oxygen generator, 2 stage oxy/propane bench burner (torch), Paragon annealing oven (kiln).
Esteban (Belljarcraft) has a BA in Sociology, BFA, and has been working in glass since spring of 2007 and teaching fundamentals and beyond since 2013.
