Milling Machine Basics
Make a keychain bottle opener while learning basic metal machining on our manual mill! Students will learn rules for safe machine operation, mill set-up, basic tool selection and maintenance, and proper machining technique with plenty of hands-on practice. Skills include squaring raw material, measuring and cutting to dimension (accurate to .001”… a quarter the thickness of a sheet of paper!), locating and drilling precision holes, and finishing edges with a file.
Manual Mill + selection of end mills
All materials and consumables are provided by ADX, including safety equipment.
No experience required! This is a great follow-up class, however, to Intro to Metal Shop, and will build on skills introduced in that class. Students should read a document called Introduction to Manual Milling document before class (provided by the instructor via email before class).
